How to Keep Your Meta and TikTok Ad Accounts Healthy: A Prevention Checklist

Recovering from a disabled ad account is stressful and slow. Preventing one is far easier. Most enforcement problems trace back to a short list of avoidable issues: weak security, risky creative, mismatched landing pages, messy billing, and poor account structure. This checklist covers each area for both Meta and TikTok.

1. Lock down security

Compromised accounts are one of the most common paths to a disable. Attackers use hijacked profiles to run spam or scam ads, and the platform shuts everything down.

2. Write compliant creative

Most rejections come down to the ad itself.

3. Build trustworthy landing pages

Platforms review where your ad sends people.

4. Keep billing clean

5. Structure accounts sensibly

6. Monitor account health weekly

7. Have a plan B (the compliant kind)

Even careful advertisers get caught by false positives. A resilient business does not rely on a single account or channel:

What a plan B should never include: buying accounts, rotating duplicate profiles, cloaking, or any tactic designed to evade enforcement. Those approaches tend to end in permanent restrictions across every connected asset.

A 15-minute weekly account health routine

Prevention works best as a habit. Block 15 minutes on the same day each week:

  1. Minutes 1–3: Open Business Support Home (Meta) and your account status in TikTok Ads Manager. Note any new warnings.
  2. Minutes 4–7: Review ads rejected this week. Group them by reason. Two or more for the same reason is a pattern to fix at the source.
  3. Minutes 8–10: Click through your live ads to their landing pages on your phone. Check that offers, prices and policies are still accurate.
  4. Minutes 11–13: Check billing: failed payments, expiring cards, outstanding balances.
  5. Minutes 14–15: Check who has access to your business assets and remove anyone who no longer needs it.

Log the results in a simple spreadsheet. Over time you'll see which kinds of creative or offers attract scrutiny and can adjust before enforcement escalates.

Train everyone who touches your ads

Many problems come from a team member, freelancer or new agency who doesn't know your history. Share a one-page brief that covers which claims are off-limits for your product, which Pages and domains may be used, how to request access properly (never by sharing passwords) and who to tell if something gets flagged. Update it whenever you learn something new from a rejection.

Automate the boring parts

You can set up alerts so you hear about problems sooner: email notifications for ad rejections and account changes, payment failure alerts from your bank or card, and a weekly report on rejected ads. If you'd rather have someone else watch over this, our Ads Management service includes account health monitoring as standard.

When to get outside help

If you're seeing repeated rejections you don't understand, your account has been restricted more than once, or ads are a large share of your revenue, it can be worth having someone review your setup with fresh eyes. Look for help that focuses on fixing root causes (creative, landing pages, structure and security) and walks you through official appeal channels, not anyone promising shortcuts or certain outcomes.
